I really wish they did this for Football games.

This station in England puts a fan from each team in a broadcast booth together for games and gives them each a mic. What is the result? Pure genius.

This is from when Manchester United played Manchester City. The final score was Man U beating Manchester City 4-3.

Oh tubby Brits. So funny.

A Topic!

It has been a long time since any of us have done a topic writing so I asked my friend Jen (to protect the identity of the person who gave me the topic, I have changed his/her name) to give us one. Here is what she sent us (directly copied and pasted from the email).

if you could go back in time to anywhere on the planet, where would you go & why.

This is a pretty open ended question. Is it asking if I would be going back for a visit? Would I be there for the rest of my life? Depending on how long I would be in the past greatly changes the question. Also, could I bring things (food, water, guns, supplies, clothing of the time period) with me? Would I be going alone? Would I be going with a team of people in the hopes of creating a better peaceful society and change the future of all mankind? Would I be going with someone I really don't like (like the guys from bloggingheads.tv)?

If I was only going back in time for like 15 minutes then maybe I would want to go to prehistoric times so I could see some dinosaurs. I am hoping that in the 15 minutes I was there I would not get eaten. I would want to go to someplace near the coast. I'm sure there would be a lot of action there. I can't specify what coast or anything because I'm not really sure where land was back then.

If I was going in the past with no supplies and for a couple of days I would want to not go past the 1950s. One major reason for this? I wear contacts. After a while my contacts would dry out and I would need to get glasses. If I went too far back in time I would be in trouble as eventually I would not have much for vision. Now I know I could go back farther than the 50s and still be able to get glasses, but if I don't have any supplies I wouldn't want to go farther back than that. It would be kind of cool to go to the 50s and be like one of the guys from Mad Men for a day or two. It would also be sweet to back to the 60s or 70s.

Now if I had supplies and I was going alone or with people, we had supplies (like contacts, guns, food, water, clothes, and toilet paper) and it was for the rest of my/our lives it would be different. I think I would then like to go to Seattle, but before it existed, like the 1600 or 1700s. The reason that I would like to do that is because there are so many natural resources right here that I could use to survive and even, dare I say, flourish. I would make sure that the people who would come with me were talented in different necessary specialties so make a good society. I would want some people with a good understanding of building, at least two doctors (for when you are sick and then when you need a second opinion), some people who are good with guns (but aren't mercenary type, I don't want them turning on me) and a bunch of hot chicks (these hot chicks could also be one of the previously stated specialties). I am pretty sure that with my current friends I could put together such a group.

If I had some supplies but it was just for a couple of days then I would maybe like to go back to Japan in the 1700s. I could be like Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai for a day or two, minus the whole getting involved thing. Now I know that the Last Samurai supposedly takes place in 1870 and not the 1700s, but I am just using it as an example of a white guy being in Japan.

Again, this was a pretty open ended question, which I liked. It gave me room to explain different scenarios. Of course my answer could change a bit because if I knew I was about to go back in time then I would probably get LASIK so I didn't have to worry about contacts. Now if the question was when would I want to be born, it would be present day. I had an appendicitis when I was 12 so I wouldn't want to be born in a time when they didn't know what that was. I would like to live past 12 as I have in present day.

I thought about some other time periods. Here are some other time periods and why I would not want to go for very long if at all.

Medieval Times... I bet everything smelled terrible back then as there was no sewage. Life wasn't like the renaissance fairs. If you weren't rich you were nothing. Oh yeah and one more reason. Black Plague.

Civil War... I think this would be really interesting for sure but if you have seen the beginning of Dances With Wolves we all know that everyone got gang green back then. Don't know what I'm talking about? Think about the beginning when the doctor tell Costner that he is going to have to take off his leg. Remember all the blood and the other injured people around him? No? Then you closed your eyes at the beginning of the movie.

Ancient Roman Times... This one has a similar answer to Medieval Times. I probably wouldn't go back as a rich Senator or something so it would be pretty smelly and depressing. I would probably also get some kind of disease.

Caribbean during the time of Pirates (1700s or so)... Scurvy, nasty teeth, and rum. No, No, and OK.

So there you have it. Those are my thoughts on going back in time.

Completely off the topic here but... WE ARE BOMBING THE MOON!

This made me laugh out loud... for some reason

Watching Major League

I am watching the movie Major League right now and I am totally convinced that only two of the actors in this movie had ever actually played baseball. Charlie Sheen knows how to throw a baseball but Corbin Bensen? He has no idea what he is doing. It is definitely some unintentional comedy. That is a pretty annoying thing about most baseball movies in general. The actors generally have never thrown a baseball before.

This is a funny story from the Seattle Times.

US Open Cup

Today at 4:30 Pacific Time the Seattle Sounders take on D.C. United for the championship of the US Open Cup. This is the first chance for the Sounders to get some hardware in their inaugural season. Luckily for you I have a friend who works for D.C. United and they gave me some insider information about the team. I feel that it is my duty to pass on this information to you, the loyal reader. Here is what my connection told me about the starting line-up for D.C.

NO. PLAYER NAME POSITION
1 Milos Kocic Goalkeeper ... Milos is the product of a eastern Serbian breading program. He was born with male and female genitalia.

16 Greg Janicki Defender ... Greg has no sense of smell. He lost it in 7th grade when he sniffed glue for two weeks straight.

3 Avery John Defender ... like Ricky Bobby he has two first names.

26 Bryan Namoff Defender ... his left fore-arm is three times larger than his right. He actually walks with a limp since his left fore-arm weighs so much more.

18 Devon McTavish Midfielder ... Devon originally wanted to be a radio DJ when he was told he had a great face for radio. It took him 3 years to understand it was a joke.

22 Rodney Wallace Midfielder ... before becoming a soccer player, Devon was a member of a Costa Rican circus. He was one of the freaks with his complete absence of a neck and enormous shoulders. He also has one flipper hand.

7 Fred Midfielder ... His family was to poor to give him a last name. He is also considered a disgrace in his homeland as he is the only Brazilian whose only option for playing professional soccer was the MLS.

8 Andrew Jacobson Midfielder ... Andrew is actually quite a success story. He is the only MLS player who is under 14 years old.

9 Ange N'Silu Forward ... Besides playing soccer, Ange also has a side business designing sweat bands. Unfortunately he has yet to make a sale.

17 Thabiso Khumalo Forward ... not too much about this guy besides that his nickname is "Boyzzz" (seriously?). Oh yeah I heard that he is not playing as he has a broken arm.

99 Jaime Moreno Forward ... Jaime is listed as 5'10" but everybody knows that he is actually 4'6". He was also the inspiration for some of the circus bugs in the movie Bugs Life.
