One of the most hipster bands ever

I found this band on my iPod a couple of weeks ago and I have no idea how it got there.  These guys are one of the most hipster bands out there.  The band name? Frightened Rabbit.  Seriously, how hipster is that? They wear plaid, have beards, and have that kind of cool brushed over hair.  There is also the token clean cut member of the band wearing thick rimmed glasses.  When the lead singer isn't playing his guitar he is constantly playing with his hair, total hipster.  One thing that throws them off a bit though? They are Scottish.  After kind of making fun of them I do have to admit that I have been listening to their album pretty much constantly for a week or so.  Crack open a PBR and enjoy.

Happy to see this...

While this has to do with DC United it is pretty amazing that Charlie Davies is playing soccer.  He is going to do some great stuff for the national team next World Cup.

From Wikipedia...

On October 13, 2009, Davies, who was in Washington, D.C. for a World Cup Qualifier game against Costa Rica, was a passenger in an SUV that went out of control on the George Washington Parkway and struck a metal railing at about 3:15 a.m., tearing the vehicle in half. The accident shut down the George Washington Parkway until 8:15 a.m. that morning. The accident killed a 22-year old woman who was in the car with Davies, while Davies himself suffered a lacerated bladder, fractured right tibia and femur, a fractured elbowfacial injuries, and bleeding on the brain.[14][15][25] In an interview with ESPN's Jeremy Schaap on December 4, Davies said that he expected to be running by March and would be fit to play at the World Cup.[26] On January 25, 2010, ESPNsoccernet reported Davies was jogging and hoped to return to Sochaux by April.[27] Davies returned to France to complete his rehabilitation with his club on February 17, 2010, with plans to commence full team training within a month.[28][29] He resumed light training with the club on March 22.[30] On May 11, it was announced by coach Bob Bradley that Davies would not be on the preliminary national team roster for the 2010 FIFA World Cup,[31] as Sochaux had not cleared him medically.[32]

Speaking of US players getting injured...this I am not happy to see.  Knee

Rango

Last weekend I saw Rango and have been meaning to write a review for a couple of days.

Rango is a very unique computer animated film.  It follows a story unlike any other film of that genre and has many characters that are firsts.  The characters have depth and the film moves at a good pace.  While the film has many of the kinds of jokes one would expect from a PG movie it also has some very grown up moments and dialogue.  Characters get shot, there is a suicide attempt, subtle homo-erotica and multiple existential moments that are pretty trippy.  At multiple points during the film I could feel parents thinking to themselves, "maybe I shouldn't have taken my 6 year old to this."  Now this is not to say that the film was bad, quite the contrary, I loved it, but I do think that it has been falsely advertised as a goofy kids movie.  I am pretty surprised it is not rate PG-13.

The look and style of the characters were so visually interesting, there was always some new detail to take in about each animal.  It is amazing what how the animators were able to make different animals appear in a very human like form.  The animation overall was extremely realistic and stunning.  The dialogue was very clever with many jokes that were definitely just for adults.

Rango, go see it! But leave your little brother or sister behind.
