New music and video from Idle Warship (Talib Kweli and Res) and Chester French. Executively produced by Pomona College graduate and hip hop star Tunji of Inverse. I wonder who Kweli is supporting in November?
I think that was a little harsh...speaking of harsh...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVmosJo-Bbg&feature=related...NYOIL has some strong opinions...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv5XtChhzZA&feature=related
Yeah, I don't know NYOIL. Good beats, good samples, decent lyrics, but he isn't saying anything that wasn't said in '88 or '92 or whenever. Personally, I've always thought that so-called "Afrocentric" rap, or rap that works to spread knowledge and empowerment, is better than simply calling everyone else on the radio wack. There's a fine line between kicking a critique of society and just talking shit about other MCs to stir up some controversy. Not saying NYOIL crossed the line, just that he didn't bring much of anything new to the conversation.
